Besides visiting the Nazca Desert and Peruvian Rainforest, hiking across the Andes Mountains from Cusco to Machu Picchu, and dropping in on Lake Titicaca, Winnie and I spent a few days visiting the City of Lima. We stayed in Lima our first two nights in Peru and then our last two nights. Both times we stayed in the Miraflores District. Officially called “San Miguel de Miraflores,” this is considered a residential and upscale shopping district, and one of the wealthiest districts that make up the city of Lima.
This district is located south of Lima’s historic downtown area, and considered one of its main tourist destinations. It’s also right on the coast, on top of impressive coastal cliffs that line the Pacific Ocean beaches.
Winnie and I spent our time there walking around enjoying the sights, and took a half-day guided tour of Lima’s Historic District. It was a pleasant start and ending to our Peru Adventures.
