In a few days, Winnie and I will be heading out on a vacation trip I’ve wanted to do since about 1979. We’re headed to Peru for a two week tour of this magical South American country.

I’ve been catching back up on my daily grind this past week after returning from a vacation. For our latest adventure, Winnie and I did something entirely new – for us. After months of planning and anticipation, Winnie and I took our first vacation cruise a couple of weeks ago.

Winnie and I returned home from our one week’s whirlwind visit to the lovely island of Oahu, Hawaii. It was a wonderful vacation for both of us. So much so that I had to wonder why I waited 27 years to go back.
While our reason for this trip was being part of decommissioning the last ship I served on during my Navy career, it was also our first vacation trip since the

I grew up in Farmingdale, on Long Island, New York, moving away to the Hudson Valley area of Pine Bush at age 15 way back in 1972. Since then, I’ve made occasional visits to Long Island over the years, but always to visit family still living there. Regrettably, over the years my family ties to Long Island gradually thinned out, and now are non-existent.
However, my heart has always been with Long Island as my childhood home. Over this past Juneteenth weekend, Winnie and I decided to make it a long weekend and pay a visit to Long Island as tourists. It turned out to be a very worthwhile trip.
Winnie and I decided we needed to do something different for Christmas this year. Our Christmases past have normally revolved around either staying at home in quiet celebration, or visiting family. This year, we gave each other a Christmas vacation trip to Puerto Rico.
Winnie and I returned home Saturday afternoon from our two week vacation. It turned out to be a great vacation, and we accomplished just about everything we planned on doing while still having a relaxing time.
We’ll be leaving this evening for our vacation trip to England and France. We’re as ready as we’re going to get, and that’s all there is!
We’ve been spending a lot of this past week prepping for our big vacation trip. I received my “Rough Guide” tour books as promised by Amazon.com and spent some time reading through them.
Winnie and I are starting to get ready for our next big adventure. This year, we decided to take a real vacation and head out to places we both have always dreamed about seeing. Actually, there’s a lot of places we’ve dreamed about seeing someday, so narrowing it down was a bit difficult. After some thought and planning we decided that this year we’d head off to see England, with a side trip to France.
After nearly three years and many adventures in the New World, Winnie left today to go visit her family. One catch with marrying a person who lived halfway around the planet; going to visit family takes a lot of planning.
