In October 2024, as Winnie and I were still settling into our new home in Charlotte, North Carolina, we experienced a bit of Carolina’s charm. South Carolina hosts an annual hot air balloon festival every year on the third weekend in October. Called the “Carolinas Balloonfest,” the sponsors claim it is the second-oldest hot air balloon festival in the country. It was the first time Winnie had ever seen hot air balloons, and my first time at an actual festival like this. Overall, it was a lot of fun, and we hope to attend more of these festivals in the future. One year, we might even try to catch a ride on one of these balloons…
