Just like clockwork, I’m hearing Democrats mouthing the tired old tropes of “if Trump and the Republicans screw up badly enough, people will start electing Democrats.”
Oh, Really? So, what will it take?
My Rant
Folks; Trump was elected President the first time as a known pedophile, serial rapist, and sexual molester. He was on wife number three and known to have cheated on all three of them. He had six bankruptcies and over 4000 civil lawsuits as his “Brilliant Businessman” credentials. He was convinced of defrauding a child’s cancer charity and banned from running charities in New York. He settled out of court on running a fraudulent real estate school that defrauded hundreds of people.
As President he corrupted everything he touched. He openly supported every world’s dictator and pissed off all of our existing long-term allies. When the COVID pandemic hit, Trump ran the worse response of any industrialized nation (and many developing nations), now credited with costing an excess of 450,000 deaths. Most of whom were his Red State supporters. He was impeached for trying to use the power of government to prosecute a political rival. Then he forced the highly-decorated career military officer who blew the whistle on him to resign.
We fired him during his four-year performance review. Upon which Trump organized an autocoup and tried to violently overthrow the results of a free and fair Democratic election. For which he was impeached a second time.
Since leaving office he’s been indicted on a total of 91 felony counts in two different states and by the federal government. He’s been convicted on 34 of those counts and is presently out of jail on bail. As a convicted felon he can’t even vote for himself in 26 states. He ran a campaign on promising to be a dictator starting day one of his presidency. And every existing federally-elected Republican official supported him in his campaign.
AND THE AMERICAN PEOPLE VOTED HIM BACK INTO OFFICE! AGAIN! AND ELECTED MORE REPUBLICANS!
The Question
So, my question;
Just how badly does Trump need to fuck up before he, and his supporting cast of corrupt Republican officials, get rejected by the American people?
And if you can’t answer this question, then maybe it’s time to do some soul searching and figure out why Americans would rather elect Trump over a Democratic candidate. Then, after figuring it out, make the changes needed so Americans do prefer a Democratic candidate.
Because, right now, I’m not hopeful Democrats are even TRYING to learn anything from this last election loss.
