While I haven’t posted much lately, I’m still in the game. Besides being retired, I’m watching the fall of the American Century, collapse of the American Experiment, and rise of American-style fascism. It’s been a busy time.
Given this, all I can do is post another music video for these times. So many people are finding out that we didn’t know what we had, until it’s now gone.
A New-To-Me Band
I haven’t previously heard of this group “Cinderella,” described as the “greatest glam metal act of all time.” So, I never heard of glam metal music either. From the always-amazing website I do know about, Wikipedia, comes this description:
Cinderella was an American rock band formed in the suburbs of Philadelphia in 1983. The band emerged in the mid-1980s with a series of multi-platinum studio albums and hit singles whose music videos received heavy MTV rotation and popularity. Cinderella initially had a glam metal sound throughout the late 1980s before shifting into a more blues rock-based sound during the early to mid 1990s.
Some journalists have also noted elements of roots music apparent in the band’s sound. Additionally, the band has been known to perform ballads. Jeff Mezydlo of Yardbarker stated that although the band “looked the part of hair rockers, its overall sound seemed to have more meat than other bands of the era.
[…]By the mid-1990s, the band’s fame declined precipitously due to personal setbacks, breakups, and changes in the American music industry. After a brief hiatus, Cinderella reunited in 1996 and continued to perform live, but never released any studio material after their 1994 album “Still Climbing.”
The Song
So, in my spare time away from being retired I’ll need to check out more of this band’s music. Meanwhile, I offer this poignant song that speaks for our brave new world.
